Born in Auckland in 1969, Kirsty Nixon began painting and exhibiting in the late 1980s as a successful watercolour artist. In 1994 Kirsty began capturing the vibrant personality of the New Zealand landscape on canvas with acrylics. This style was greatly received and prompted Kirsty to leave her career as an art director in advertising to become a full-time professional artist.
Her appeal and recognition as one of New Zealand’s foremost landscape artists has been celebrated in national art publications such as Art News and Asian Art News. She also features in the New Zealand Favourite Artists book edited by Denis Robinson 2010 edition.
