Anneke Bester is a South African born artist who has adopted New Zealand as her home country. She exhibits in New Zealand, Portugal and Dubai. Anneke honed her sculpting skill while working as sculptor and props sculptor on Movies including “The Hobbit”, Narnia’s “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” and many more. Her Public Arts works can be seen in the Hamilton Gardens; the Alice in Wonderland display being one.

Her delicately cast bronze sculptures seem to defy gravity. Anneke is exploring her African roots with thin tall figures. She celebrates the human form in highly expressive poses telling the story of each piece with strong movement. Her focus on her own femininity and how to express it, shows in her female forms while she explores the suggestive nature of hiding the form or partially hiding it.
